Several hours after an army of bees massed a car and a handicap sign in parking Lot B, Honeybee Preservationist Steve Downs arrives on the scene like a knight in shining bee armor to save them. Board takes early steps to fill vacancy as Trustees mourn

After the unexpected death of Board of Trustees President Kenneth Brown on March 23, college officials are “still in shock,” even as they take the next steps to fill the vacant Area 1 position. An update pinned at the top of the Board of Trustees webpage on the El Camino College website explains the board is in the “determination” stages regarding how to fill the unexpected vacancy. Heavy rains cause water damage to ITEC and Humanities Buildings

Water damage to buildings caused by persistent rainstorms has forced classrooms to relocate at El Camino College. As the possibility of rain persists this spring semester, the facilities department will continue working closely with individual division deans to repair affected buildings and get students back into their classrooms. Tempers flare during presentation as Academic Affairs maps out new enrollment plan

A heated exchange between the president of the Academic Senate and another member interrupted an enrollment presentation during the Tuesday, April 4, meeting. The dispute occurred between Academic Senate President Darcie McClelland and Art History Professor Ali Ahmadpour over the amount of faculty involvement in the implementation of a new curriculum to spur enrollment. Tech professors to be given more power in equipment selection decisions

El Camino College’s “higher-field” area faculty may soon have more power when it comes to selecting and purchasing technology needed to properly teach their courses. Current disciplines that fall under the higher-field umbrella include architecture, computer science, computer information science, data science, digital arts and games and playable media. Read more.
Reading, writing and a revamp: The Writing Center becomes the Reading and Writing Studio

In an effort to raise student awareness of services outside of writing help, the Writing Center located in the Humanities Building room 122, is rebranding itself as the Reading and Writing Studio. While a soft re-opening with food and decorations will take place on April 6, the center will fully adopt the new name after spring break. Read more.
The future of campus leadership: student government elections are underway

Out of order elevator prompts struggle for disabled students and employees

The only elevator in El Camino’s Arts and Behavioral Science Building located at the southwest entrance was out of order on Tuesday, April 4. Nearly all art-related classes, labs and instructor offices are on the second and third floors and some people with disabilities and physical challenges had no way to get upstairs for their classes while others struggled. Mt. San Antonio Mounties snap Warriors’ win streak
The Mt. San Antonio Mounties overpowered the El Camino College Warriors by a landslide score of 7-2 during the last conference game of the season. Mounties won all three double and four single games, leaving the Warriors behind with the home team posting two wins in doubles. Read more.

Child Development Club continues to help families through its club activities. The club hosts a monthly meet-up "You and Me" playgroup for families with children. Furthermore, club members can volunteer and gain experience being around children. View here.
