Summer and fall classes are tuition-free for El Camino students

El Camino College is offering tuition-free classes for both the summer and fall 2022 semesters to all currently enrolled students. Students enrolled in El Camino College since 2020 have their tuition fees automatically waived while newer students can apply for a tuition-free opportunity. Read more.
Colleges need to increase diversity and offer competitive pay for administration

Southern California community colleges have seen significant changes in the diversity among administration members. In addition to the changes in diversity, the salaries for executive officers such as the presidents of these community colleges have also seen some notable changes due to economic inflation. El Cappuccino, the new cafe on the El Camino campus, will bring Starbucks licensed drinks, hot and cold food options and an indoor cafe aesthetic when it opens up during the summer semester. The Union staff toured the new cafe and received thoughts from students and staff. Watch here.

Online and Distance Education Department recommends specific faculty certification

The Online and Distance Education Department recommends faculty be certified to teach distance education courses. The method would require faculty members to be certified through the completion of El Camino’s distance education certification program or by qualifying and completing the certification waiver process. Eight COVID-19 cases confirmed during finals week
Eight new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed on the El Camino College campus, bringing the total number of cases to 581. These cases come five days after the most recent COVID-19 update was sent by Marketing and Communications on June 3. Read more.
