Hello Warriors! We’re just a few weeks into the fall 2020 semester and it has been a little hectic for all of us as students trying to adjust to online learning. For us on The Union, we’ve had to conduct every staff and editorial meeting via Zoom, we interview and photograph our sources via phone or Zoom and we even took our staff photos via Zoom.
Times may be tough and adjustment may happen slowly but we are committed to providing you with coverage no matter what circumstances we may find ourselves in this semester. We will continue updating you with the most recent ECC COVID-19 and health updates and we will continue to feature students, faculty, and community members making a difference for our college.
This newsletter and the next will also include special neighborhood coverage from our reporters who found someone in their community who is facing the burden of the Coronavirus Pandemic, and shared a little piece of their stories.
I want to thank you for subscribing to our newsletter and supporting our program, and I hope you enjoy our first issue.
Warm Regards,
Editor-in-Chief, The Union

A little bit about The Union
The Union is El Camino College’s student-run newspaper and the only local source of news for its college community. Everything published by The Union is done by student journalists. Whether it’s pulling an all-nighter to write human interest stories or push everything aside in order to deliver breaking news, our entire staff works incredibly hard to keep the El Camino community informed.
With the impacts of the coronavirus far-reaching, The Union has expanded its scope of coverage to include countless communities where El Camino College’s students, professors, employees and community members live. This includes more coverage on coronavirus and its impacts on cities including Gardena, Hawthorne, Torrance, Inglewood, Carson, Lawndale, Manhattan Beach, and Redondo Beach.
If you have any comments or questions about this issue of The Union’s newsletter or any of the stories you’ve read, please contact our Editor-in-Chief Molly Cochran by emailing her at molly_cochran@elcamino.edu.
