Lifted parking fees aid students financially

To help alleviate the financial burden and aid the transition back to in-person classes, parking on the El Camino College campus is free for the spring 2022 semester. El Camino College’s Office of Marketing and Communications announced in an email on Feb. 9 that parking permits or daily parking passes are no longer necessary throughout the term. Read more.
Funds for food location approved by El Camino College Board of Trustees
The Board of Trustees approved funds to build a new eatery during their meeting on Feb. 22. The food location will be in connection to the ECC Bookstore. Read more.
Student Equity Plan falls short of equity goals
The Board of Trustees presented the results of their 2019-2021 Student Equity Plan. El Camino College did not meet some of these goals set in previous years. Read more.
Baseball field testing nearly doubles project budget
The Board of Trustees approved funds being added to the construction project on the baseball field, to have it tested. These funds almost doubled the previous budget of the project. Read more.

El Camino beach volleyball team victorious in matches against Golden West and Fullerton College

The El Camino Warriors face off against both Golden West and Fullerton College at El Camino College. The Warriors were able to win every round in both games, winning 5-0. Read more.
ECC Warriors lose to Long Beach Vikings 5-2 in a home game.

Through three games over the course of a week, the El Camino Warriors faced off against the Long Beach Vikings across the South Bay. The games however ended all in defeat, with scores of 2-5, 2-9 and 10-16. Read more.

Upcoming Social Justice Center and Black Student Success Center aim to uplift Black student youth

Two brand new student outreach centers are scheduled to open up on campus during the fall 2022 semester: the Social Justice Center and the Black Student Success Center. The Social Justice Center is meant to be a destination for all underrepresented student groups and the Black Student Success Center is focused on academically supporting El Camino’s Black students. Virtual open-mic night event held to celebrate Black History Month

El Camino College’s Black Student Union and the African American Employee Network hosted a virtual open-mic event in celebration of Black History Month on Friday, Feb. 19. The two collegiate organizations collaborated to organize the event where students and faculty alike could share their personal artistic expressions of Black pride. Read more.

ECC theater department to present rock musical Spring Awakening

Students from El Camino College’s Theater Department will be performing the 19th-century rock musical “Spring Awakening” in the Campus Theatre from March 11 to March 27. “Spring Awakening” is based on a Tony Award-winning play written in 1891 that explores the challenges that a new generation of teenagers face when it comes to dealing with their sexuality in an uninformed society.
