Stalking cases rise on campus
After a brief drop during the pandemic when El Camino College was closed, reports of stalking targeting female students on campus are rising again. The crime log from El Camino College Police Department recorded three incidents of stalking on campus so far in 2024. In 2019, there were 13 on-campus stalking Violence Against Women offenses reported, as well as five in 2020 and three in 2021, according to the 2022 El Camino Clery Crime Statistics. Read more.
New club handbook policies spark concerns for students and faculty

Students will no longer have access to and control of their clubs’ social media accounts once the new policy added to the Student Organization Handbook is enforced in the coming days. The handbook, which lays down the rules for the creation and maintenance of El Camino College student organizations, gets updated every year. This year’s update included a lot more club adviser involvement. Read more.
Ghost guns added to list of prohibited weapons on campus
Ghost guns and ghost gun parts are now prohibited at El Camino College according to a recent report presented by the College Council on Monday, April 15. The campus weapons policy did not previously include ghost guns in the list of prohibited weapons. Ghost guns or ghost gun parts are weapons that have no serial number, making them untraceable to law enforcement, and can be manufactured by 3D printing. Read more.
After nearly three decades working at El Camino, enrollment services dean set to retire end of the month

A former professional baseball player who became an El Camino College dean is approaching the end of a nearly 30-year career working to support students. Cheers and applause from Robin Dreizler’s family, El Camino administrators, faculty and staff engulfed the East Dining Room as he smiled, took in the moment and was adorned with a retirement sash. Paintings, Disney ears, 3D-printed characters: Maker’s Fair showcases student creativity

Paintings, Disney ears and 3D-printed characters were just some of the items sold at the Maker’s Fair on Monday, April 22, where 11 student vendors set up tables and sold handmade items outside the El Camino College Art Gallery. The event is hosted once per semester, giving students the opportunity to put their creativity on display. Read more.

El Camino Softball team hunts down L.A. Harbor in explosive 2nd and 4th innings backed by dominant pitching
The Warriors beat the LA Harbor Seahawks for the third time this season in a close defensive battle that had the Warriors come out on top 2-0 in the teams’ home game on April 19. Read more.
Warriors softball team breaks Fullerton’s victory streak, kickstarts their own after win
The Warriors softball team took down a highly rated Fullerton (34-4) team in a tight 2-1 home game on April 20. Before this game, Fullerton was on an 18-game win streak that the Warriors ended. Read more.
Warriors Softball edges past Compton in offensive battle to win on sophomore day
The Warriors Softball team had their sophomore day game against the Compton Tartars on April 23 that had the Warriors defending its home in a 6-4 offensive battle win for El Camino. This is the team’s 12th win in the past 13 games, the Warriors have two games remaining in the regular season against Cypress and Long Beach before they start playoffs. Read more.

With six out of 11 El Camino College sports teams fighting for contention as the spring semester sports regular seasons wind down, the Union looked at every spring sport and how each season is ending. Read more.

Teams of students and professors clashed in a cardboard boat race and free-for-all fight during the “Sink or Sail” event, hosted by the Society of Women Engineers in the Pool Classroom Building at El Camino College on Friday, April 19.
The boats, made of cardboard, duct tape and other materials, were piloted in the race portion by El Camino College’s STEM professors, and then by members of each team for the “Boattle Royale,” where they fought and sunk each other using pool noodles and rowing oars.
