President of the Board of Trustees Kenneth Brown dies

President of the Board of Trustees Kenneth Brown died Thursday, March 23, according to an official email from the President of El Camino College Brenda Thames. Brown has been heavily involved in the affairs of El Camino including equity goals for Black students, college diversity and a deep commitment to students amongst other achievements. Read more.
Forensics team excels at international tournament, wins multiple awards

Speech and debate students from El Camino College won multiple individual awards and fifth place overall at the 33rd International Forensics Association Tournament. This tournament was the first time an El Camino forensics team represented the college on the international level, in Tokyo, Japan. Read more.
El Camino feels the need, the need for Wi-Fi speed

Upgrading Wi-Fi access points, expanding coverage and implementing more outdoor access points including the stadium and parking lots is part of a new multi-phase project that has been approved by El Camino College’s Board of Trustees. It has been approximately six years since El Camino College last upgraded its wireless network infrastructure in Nov. 2017. Read more.
Spring University Fair offers resources for transfer students

After a few days of rainy weather on campus, the 2023 Spring University Fair took place at the Student Services Plaza on Thursday, March 23. Transfer Center Coordinator Rene Lozano said the event brings the universities to the students as a “one-stop shop” where they can explore academic options and speak with university representatives. Women speak on challenges and experiences during STEM panel
In celebration of Women’s History Month, El Camino College presented a panel hosting women in science, technology, engineering and mathematics fields on March 23 in the Natural Science Building. Volunteer panelists spoke to students about the challenges, opportunities, and paths they experienced and took that lead them to pursue their careers in STEM. Read more.

El Camino women’s swim team makes a splash at Cerritos

El Camino College’s women’s swim team overcame Cerritos College 137-114 on Friday during a South Coast Conference dual meet at the Aquatics Center, while the men’s team was defeated 144-125. El Camino’s Mia Park, who has been creating waves in and outside of the water by setting several records this season, won her heat in the women’s 1000-yard freestyle. Read more.
El Camino men’s volleyball mow down Antelope Valley Marauders in home game
While both the El Camino College Warriors and the Antelope Valley Marauders entered Wednesday’s men’s volleyball contest looking to end their losing streaks, it was the former who came out on top in a 3-0 victory at El Camino’s home court on March 29. Read more.

Birth Control Tips

Advice and myths regarding birth control were discussed during a virtual workshop hosted by Student Health Services. The Student Health Center provides multiple packages of birth control for $6 and all information is kept private unless medically relevant. Read more.
