Misrepresenting AI-generated content as one’s own work in amendment to student conduct, pending approval
A proposed amendment to add the use of artificial intelligence to the standards of student conduct at El Camino College will go through the Board of Trustees’ first reading on Monday, April 15. The amendment classifies “representing the words, ideas, or work created by another person or generated using artificial intelligence as one’s own in any academic exercise” as dishonesty, and would be cause for discipline including removal, suspension or expulsion. Students get head start on transfer process at university fair

Forty university representatives met with El Camino College students at the Spring University Fair hosted in the Library Lawn. Students who attended were able to get an idea of what the campus environment is like at the university they’re thinking of moving to and get help with the transfer process. Read more.

College honors women who advocate for diversity, equity and inclusion
In honor of Women's History Month, six women who advocate for "equity, diversity and inclusion" were selected to receive the Distinguished Women's Award and were honored at a reception on Wednesday, March 27. Read more about the awardees.
El Camino Art Gallery honors ‘the mother of Los Angeles architecture’

The Art Gallery celebrated the birthday of the “mother of Los Angeles architecture” on Thursday, March 28, concluding Women’s History Month and honoring the legacy of an L.A. visionary. Louise “Aline” Barnsdall brought world-renowned architects to the city in the 1920s and commissioned buildings that are well-known today, including the Hollyhock House. Read more.

El Camino College hosted its 24th Annual Dr. Nadine Ishitani Hata Memorial Cherry Blossom Festival on Tuesday, April 2. The event also honored Gloria Miranda, former dean of behavioral and social sciences who died last year. After the taiko performance, students recited haiku poems they wrote. Ice cream was served to attendees.
