Speech and debate team wins top awards in state and national competitions

Thirteen students from the El Camino College Speech and Debate Club and team participated in a national competition in Norfolk, Virginia, with many taking home top awards. Nearly every team member medaled and three won gold in a tournament against 51 other colleges and universities. Read more.
MANA Center hosting events for Asian and Pacific American Heritage Month

Several events honoring Asian and Pacific American heritage will be hosted by the MANA Center, including a Disney “Moana” sing-along and a lei-making workshop. The center also helps students with degree planning, tutoring and filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Read more.
Millions in state funds may be available for new Music Building, Science Complex

State funding has been offered to El Camino College to replace certain buildings on campus, but the college must match it to receive it, college officials said during a board of trustees meeting. Trustee approval on a new bond measure for a future election is provided as the funding solution. Read more.
Film company shoots cancer awareness PSA at El Camino College
Filming for a cancer awareness public service announcement took place in multiple locations at El Camino College on Monday, May 5. Filming locations on campus included Murdock Stadium, the Gym Complex, and the Physics and Chemistry Building. Read more.

Warriors baseball takes Game 1 in the first round of playoffs against Saddleback College

The Warriors hosted Game 1 of the playoffs against the Saddleback College Bobcats on Friday, May 2. In a game where players for both teams were hit by pitches, the Warriors won by a score of 11-6. Read more.
Warriors pitcher delivers shutout against San Diego Mesa, team moves to next playoffs round
Warriors pitcher Lexi Ramirez earned her 26th win on the season and second shutout of the series in 5-0 win against the Olympians Saturday, May 3. Ramirez pitched a no-hitter through six innings before a single from Olympians outfielder Braelyn Hill. Read more.
Warriors baseball sweeps Saddleback College to advance to the second round of playoffs
Although Warriors pitcher Luke Steward suffered an arm injury which took him out of the game at the top of the fifth inning, the Warriors weren’t fazed with the Bobcats’ brief lead and held on to win 7-4, moving on to the second round of the 3C2A SoCal Regional Playoffs. Read more.

Artists and makers bring creations to campus in annual event at El Camino
The El Camino College Art Gallery hosted a fair featuring nearly 30 student artists, engineers, tinkerers and hobbyists. Vendors showcased their items and businesses to attendees who could shop as they strolled through campus. Read more.
Rhyme and rhythm take the mic at El Camino’s Seventh Annual Poetry Slam
El Camino College’s Seventh Annual Poetry Slam honored top poets with prizes and certificates. Participants had the opportunity to recite three minutes of their work, with no props, to win cash awards from a panel of five judges. Read more.
