Man sought by campus police after Cashier’s Office is ransacked
A man is being sought by campus authorities after ransacking the Cashier’s Office Friday evening on April 28, police said. The office sustained a slew of damages, including pry marks at the main entrance, broken door handles and cash drawers being pulled out of their desks. Read more.
Memorial and reception for longtime El Camino coach to be open to the public

A memorial mass for former El Camino College badminton and soccer coach John Britton, who died on April 11, will be hosted on Saturday, May 6 at 11 a.m. at American Martyrs Catholic Church in Manhattan Beach. The reception will take place in O’Donnell Hall, located on the church grounds. Read more.
Black Student Success Center officially unveiled at El Camino

El Camino College officially opened the Black Student Success Center located in Communications Room 110 on Wednesday, April 26. More than 75 people attended the event and toured the center. Student art, inspiring quotes and college pennants adorn the space. Read more.
Rain damage repairs to cost district tens of thousands
Heavy rain in February and March caused tens of thousands of dollars in water damage to campus buildings, including classrooms, flooded basements and leaking roofs. Damage to campus buildings, included the Humanities Building, Communications Building, Library, Arts Building and Industry Technology Education Center. Read more.
El Camino’s student poets slam their way to cash prizes

Multiple El Camino College students sang, recited, and vented their way for a chance to win cash for the Fifth Annual Poetry Slam. A total of fifteen poets, both newcomers and veterans, would take the stage at the Social Justice Center in honor of National Poetry Month. Read more.
Academic Senate urges for more accessible child care

As the Academic Senate pushes for more accessible childcare, the faculty body requested the formation of a task force with representatives to explore more affordable options for El Camino students. A letter, requesting low- or no-cost childcare services for students, highlighted the negative impacts the closure of the Child Development Center in 2014 had on student parents. Read more.

Warriors baseball walk off in the bottom of 10th against Mt. SAC

After a 3-2 victory against Mt. San Antonio College, the El Camino College Warriors now hold the no. 11 seed in SoCal Regionals and will go head-to-head with Mt. San Jacinto on May 5 at 2 p.m. The April 27 game was the second of a three-game series against Mt. San Antonio College, who won the previous game on April 24, 6-5. Read more.
Transgender inclusion in sports: New bills spark debate across U.S.

The inclusion of transgender student-athletes in college sports is dominating discussion throughout the nation as recent efforts to bar them from competing have taken sway at the federal level of the U.S. government. Two bills have occupied headlines as of late; one was proposed by the Biden administration and the other was passed by the House of Representatives on April 27. Read more.

El Camino needs to bring back culinary classes
El Camino College, unfortunately, has low-quality overpriced food and a lack of options, according to staff writer Raphael Richardson. He advocates that El Camino should take advantage of the opportunity and create culinary classes once again to save El Camino's dining experience. Read more.

Shimmy your way into the annual Spring Advanced Dance Concert

The El Camino College dance department will host its annual Spring Advanced Dance Concert at Marsee Auditorium through the weekend of May 5 through 7. Starting at 8 p.m. on May 5 and 6 and 3 p.m. on May 7, the concert will feature choreography by several dance instructors, a special guest choreographer and pieces from students. Read more.
