Letter From The Editor
Hello, El Camino College community. Don’t you just feel that March has marched on without us noticing? It feels like yesterday we just launched our first print issue for the semester and a week from now, the second issue is coming out. Please watch out for it and make sure you get a copy of the first one before they’re gone.
This is our third newsletter for the semester. Let me tell you a super short story, something I heard from a poetry classmate two days ago.
Classmate said she was talking to a friend over the phone and her friend asked her if she wanted to go to a movie and classmate said, "No, I'm broke."
She didn't know that her daughter was listening until the daughter said, "Mommy, you're not broke. I'll fix you."
Aaw.
And in one of those serendipitous moments in life, I have just submitted one of my assignments that morning called "Six-Word Memoirs" and I kid you not (is there a pun here?), this is what I wrote...well, one of them:
"Broke, not broken. Beat, not defeated."
Happy Women's History Month! We march on.
Again, thank you for supporting The Union.
Sincerely,
Ma. Gisela Ordenes
