Letter From The Editor
Hello, again El Camino College community. Do you like our little front page redesign? Is it your cup of tee?
See what I did there? I’ve been looking at golf puns and just had to use one. Or two. I apologize.
Please get a copy of the newspaper today. It’s our favorite, so far. It’s our last hurrah for Women’s History Month.
Speaking of women, I submitted a poem in my poetry class that I had to write while in an Uber to interview a source for the golf story. May I share it with you?
Nanay
They said you were taken
from a man's rib.
Bone of his bones.
Flesh of his flesh.
But you are heart
that gives and breaks
without a sound,
not even a whimper.
You are eyes
that comfort
or freeze
with a look,
that see
and shed quiet tears.
You are arms
that reach
across a continent.
Adam needed a helper,
you hold up the whole sky.
That’s all. You’re the best, by par. (I said two!)
Again, thank you for supporting The Union.
Sincerely,
Ma. Gisela Ordenes
