FIRST Program supports formerly incarcerated students to succeed

Eduardo Dumbrique was 15 when he was arrested, transferred into adult court, wrongfully convicted and served a 24-year sentence. Now, El Camino College's Formerly Incarcerated Re-Entry Students Thriving (FIRST) Program supports him and other formerly incarcerated students to succeed in education. Read more.

Super Smash Bros, tabletop games and musical chairs were enjoyed by El Camino College Students on during the Club Mixer event held on May 6. Club Mixer aims to bring students together to interact with their peers, get to know different clubs and even win gaming equipment as prizes. Watch here.

Suspect’s sentencing postponed in homicide of El Camino College student

The sentencing of defendant Sonita Heng in the killing of an El Camino College engineering student has been postponed. Heng will not have a sentencing hearing until she has provided her testimony for the prosecution against Astaphan as part of a plea deal. Read more.

ASO elections voting ends tonight; results expected on Friday

Reportedly intoxicated individual approaches students on campus

El Camino College police officers received a call on Tuesday, May 10 at 1:30 p.m. Someone said a man who was described as potentially intoxicated was approaching students. The intoxicated individual asked a student what they would do if he shot them, on campus. Read more.

Beach Volleyball team to compete in three-day championship matches
The El Camino Beach Volleyball team is competing in two championship tournaments May 12 -14. May 12 will be team matches, while May 13 and 14 will have 32 pairs of teams facing off with each other, with the top 16 then fighting for the championship title Read more.
