International student’s F-1 visa revoked at El Camino

An El Camino College student’s F-1 visa was revoked last week during spring break, ECC President Brenda Thames said in an announcement at the College Council meeting Monday, April 21.
Over 1,700 international students from more than 270 colleges and universities have had their F-1 visas revoked as of Wednesday, April 23, according to Inside Higher Ed. Read more.
Bookstore may be renamed and no longer sell books under new proposal
Textbooks are on the verge of leaving the Bookstore with sales being potentially outsourced to Barnes & Noble as soon as fall 2025, faculty said.
Sales of textbooks not turning a profit for the Bookstore and several staff retirements are factors behind the change. Read more.

El Camino softball drops to second place in conference after loss to Long Beach City
Women’s softball dropped their last two games to the Mount San Antonio College Mounties and to the Long Beach City College Vikings. The Warriors lost in a close match to the Vikings on Tuesday, April 22 at the ECC Softball Field. Read more.
El Camino baseball team wins close match against Long Beach City
Jack Nammack set the tone in the bottom of the third inning after getting his second home run of the season. The Warriors look for a playoff berth with only one game left in the season as they sit in third place in the South Coast Conference. Read more.
El Camino women’s badminton team falls to San Diego Mesa
In a fierce singles match with long rallies and fast dives toward the shuttlecock, the Warriors’ top player faced off against the San Diego Mesa Olympians’ top player Friday, April 11 at the Manhattan Beach Badminton Club. Read more.

Book advocacy across the world: Ethnic studies professor devoted to education and empowerment
Amina Humphrey, ethnic studies professor at El Camino College, is an impassioned advocate for the education and empowerment of young women locally and internationally. Her efforts include the creation of micro-libraries, donations of books and toys to children, and anti-trafficking work. Read more.
