Proposed calendar change won’t take effect in upcoming school year

El Camino College is currently considering extending the Thanksgiving break for students and employees of the college. The proposal could have been implemented in the 2025 to 2026 academic year but was shelved after some concerns couldn’t be worked out before El Camino had to publish its official calendar for the upcoming year. The college is still considering implementing the change for the 2026 to 2027 academic year. Read more.
Cuts and conversations: Barbershop Talks inspire students
The Men of Color Action Network hosted the “Dr. Parrish Geary’s Barbershop Talks” at the Student Equity and Achievement Center on Wednesday, Sept. 19, which gave students who attended free haircuts. The purpose of the event was for men of color at El Camino to inspire each one another and have space where they could speak about their experiences. Read more.

El Camino Warriors football drop to 1-2 after heavy loss to Riverside City College Tigers

In their second home game of the season, the El Camino Warriors football team fell to the Tigers of Riverside City College. The Warriors gave up the second most points in the history of the college’s football program. Read more.

XICANA! showcases generational Chicana-style pieces

XICANA! curated by Dulce Stein first opened to the public on Sept. 16 in the Art Gallery of the Arts and Behavioral Science building after being closed for nearly one year. Displaying the works of multiple Chicana artists, XICANA! showcases themes of culture, society and values in the female Mexican-American community. Read more.
